It technically works within the game's friendship and rivalry system, in which you Gozque have a friendly or adversarial relationship with your party that can challenge their worldview, but it's also such an irresponsible moment that is sadly similar for the course with how Dragon Age tends to both sides issues of oppression.

Recruiting Isabela is optional. You will need to complete the “Fools Rush In” quest for her to become an active party member. If you do not complete this quest you will not be able to recruit her, even then she is important for parts of the story.

This dialogue doesn’t explicitly end the romance with Isabela but does indicate that a romance with her will go no further than sex. This allows the player to sleep with Isabela even after this "breakup" dialogue and even after bedding Fenris, then deal with the queued romance(s) Ganador they see fit. The trail will lead you around Kirkwall until you end up at Castillon’s Landing in the Docks. Head through the area until you get into a fight with Velasco. When he is dead you can loot his body for a key. The key will unlock a room which you need to ransack for some incriminating documents. With those in hand you need to move back through the area to confront Castillon.
Carver, Hawke's warrior brother, has a similar setup but at least has some autonomy and contact me drama in his branching paths. Bethany, meanwhile, is pretty much dragged through the story with BioWare separating or killing every member of a family in a game ostensibly about familial ties.
